Reykjavik, Iceland

Temperature remarkably warm on a bright sunny day with the actual temperature in the mid-40sF

First of all, we are fortunate enough to receive a blessing for safe travels at church on Sunday before departing/

Our Washington Flyer taxi showed up 30 minutes early (better than late) but we felt sort of rushed closing up the house and making a final check.  Pretty sure we got everything.

We had access to the Air France Lounge ahead of the flight for a class of wine and some pretzels.  The flight itself was uneventful type and we landed early in Iceland.  We took the Flybus airport shuttle into a central bus terminal and a smaller shuttle to our centrally located hotel, The Hotel Reykjavik Centrum.  All good so far, but we were at the front desk at 0800 and no check-in guaranteed until 1500.  They held our bags and we went for a light breakfast with the intention of going to the main museum.  When we scoped out the hill we would have to walk up we decided to people-watch in the lobby until our room was ready.  It wasn’t long and we were settled in by 1300 and immediately took a two-hour nap.

Tonight we had a five-stop food tour with 12 others, including a couple from Satellite Beach, FL where I used to live.  Fish and lamb were the featured dishes at three of the stops, a famous Iceland hotdog (80% lamb) and rhubarb pie for dessert.  Great conversation and very good food.

Enjoyed the pix. Glad the weather cooperated. Jealous...want to be there, too.

Looks like a great start to the trip. I can't believe: 1) how clean it is and 2) that Dolly is not more bundled up!! :)
